Just wondering where yall mainly put in. I put in at Monterey and Caney mostly. I'm still very new to rayburn and haven't ever done very well. Its a big lake and very intimidating. I the only areas I've fished is veach and the canyons. Its funny because I come from saltwater fishing and talking to guys down there they will put you on spot and tell you what to do. Up here with all these tourneyments nobody wants to tell you squat. Which I understand you gotta do your time on the water. It just gets dicouraging when you fish hard all day and end up with one or two. Anyways I might be putting in at caney saturday morning and heading over to veach to see how all the tourney guys are catching them this time of year!  Grin Btw I do love your reports they are full of good info!

Most the guys don't say anything about spots or how they are catching them becasue you tell one guy he tells a few freinds and so on and then when guy that found the fish needs them for a tournament or a guide trip you have 20 boats sitting there. Its just like I have caught fish off a point for months . Just catching a few and moving on to see one of the big tournament guy sit on the spot for hours and the guys watch him fish there and then for weeks there were 3 boats there everyday, not just to catch the fish but to take them home to eat. To me thats bad to take good fish out of the lake that do a lot of the breeding.  Anyway it's tough right now on everyone with the weather and the bite.   Most guys are just trying to keep there head above the water right now. Thanks

Ya my dad always raised me telling me its bad luck if you eat bass. Even in saltwater I mostly caught and released. I can understand exact locations but most guys don't want to say anything. Bass fishing is very complex. Much more so that saltwater. Saltwater I fished with a topwater spook jr mainly a bass assasin and a corky. Bass fishing there is many many ways that some work here and not there its all about figuring out what they want and where they are. I fished the middle part of the lake last sunday and the water was pretty stained. Is is clearer on down towards the south end?
