Sam Rayburn Fall Bite

Reel um N Guide Service

Water Temp.74

Normal pool 164.40

Water Clarity 2 feet

Sam Rayburn is at 162.17 ft and rising as more rain has begun falling.   The lake is 2.23 ft low.

We started out shallow and worked along the grass lines and pads at a quick pace to cover a lot of water to find active fish.  Stanley Top Toads was one of our picks for the thick stuff and if we got a blowup that missed.  We followed that with a Baby Brush Hog. We had several fish that buried up in the pads and grass and got off. One thing you have to do when fishing this thick stuff is get the head up then bring them out of it as fast as you can. So don’t play with weak line. Get some good, tough line when you're working around the pads. The Stanley Spinner Baits did a great job on the outside edges and grass flats picking up fish that were chasing shad.  Crankbaits have been getting a few fish but it’s been a lot of work.  We've been moving fast and covering a lot of water.   Our most productive depth has been 6 to 14 ft off points and back in the creek channels.  The Carolina and Texas rig has been getting a few fish off long points and drops.  Using the same bait we got a few off some of the humps on the main lake. Look for things to change quick as the fronts push though. One thing you should see if the water muddies up, the bite will slow down for a few days.

Crappie; The Crappie fishing picked up last week and we stumbled across a few places holding great fish.  Getting out on cool fall days and having some fun with your friends and family is the best.  Everyone has loved the pontoon with the shade, changing room and the port-o-potty.   It makes the trip a lot nicer for everyone.  We can handle up to 8 anglers.

Gift Certificates

Don’t forget we have Gift Certificate for special occasions. They are good for a year so they have plenty of time to schedule a date.

God Bless
