Water Temp.50
Normal pool 164.40
Water Clarity 2 feet
Sam Rayburn is at 161.47 ft.   It has been rising slowly from the rain we got when a front pushed through.    Sam Rayburn is still low but things are beginning to looking up.Some of the creeks and the river have been a little muddy from the rains. The grass lines have been slowly disappearing. The grass you found last week may not be there next week.  The fish will be using the grass a lot as they move in on the points and creek channels.  The cold weather came in early this year so we should have a lot fish come in early.  We have been catching a few nice fish in the staging areas this week. The bite has been slow but hooking a 5 to 6 lb fish can be a dream for some people.  We had several females that have been just bulging at the seams.  This is the time that a Trophy Bass will be her heaviest.
Sam Rayburn is known for the Trap bite this time of year in the grass and it has just started.
Senkko’s and wacky worms will catch their share of fish around the grass lines and edges for the guys that want to fish slow. For the guys that want to chunk and wind all day. The Trap and Stanley Spinner bait will cover a lot of water looking for active fish along the points and back into the pockets.  There should be some big fish moving around the points and creek channels as they start moving into the pockets.  The Carolina Rig and Stanley Football Jig will pick up a few of them. Most bites will be very light so get ready.   Remember you have a couple of days between the fronts where the water will warm up and the fish will move in only to move out when the next front pushes though.

Trophy Bass
We are looking for a great surge of fish to move in and hopefully a few days of some of the best fishing on Sam Rayburn.  Last year we had a couple of days that the fishing was just unbelievable.  It was all about timing and being in the right spot. One thing for sure, you can’t catch a Trophy Bass sitting at home watching the boob tube.  String some new line on all the reels then get out there and get to fishing. It’s nice to get away and enjoy a day on the lake. Take someone fishing this week.

Crappie; The Crappie fishing has been slow as they move upriver but we are still catching a few. They should start bunching up and that’s when it will get good.  Getting out on cool winter day and having some fun with your friends and family is the best. Grab the kids and come out to enjoy a day on the water.   Everyone has loved the new pontoon with the shade, changing room and the port-o-potty.   We can handle up to 8 anglers.

White Bass; The White Bass are up river and that can be some awesome fishing for everyone. The fronts will slow the bite down some but you can still normally catch 30 on the slow day  and 100 on a good day. Take an ultra light rig and hook into a few of them.  You have got a fight on your hands for sure.  If you want the wife and kids to have a blast and get them hooked on fishing this is the trip to take. We’ve been taking trips up river and have been doing pretty good.

God Bless
