Sam Rayburn is rising fast with all the rain and at 164.30. The river and creeks are muddy and the mud line is moving down the lake. The main lake is still clear to about 2 ft.
There been a small wave of fish move up this week along with a few nice fish. Finding some clear water to sight fish is going be tough with more rain in the forecast. Flipping some soft plastic in the buck brush is going be one way to pull a few fish out of it. The Stanley Spinner bait and trap will get some baits around the grass and cover a lot of water looking for the active fish. The deeper bite will be on points leading into the spawning grounds and Carolina Rig and Stanley Jigs will produce some fish.
Trophy Bass
The weather has been warm and when the moon is full in March, we're looking for a great surge of fish to move in. This should bring on a few days of some of the best fishing on Sam Rayburn. Last year we had a couple of days that the fishing was unbelievable. It was all about timing and being in the right spot.
One thing for sure you can’t catch a Trophy Bass sitting at home watching the boob tube. Get some new line on all the reels, get out, and get fishing. It’s nice to get away and enjoy a day on the lake. Take someone fishing this week.

Crappie; The Crappie fishing has been slow as they move down river but we are still catching a few. They should start bunching up and that’s when it will get good. Getting out on cool winter days, having fun with your friends and family is the best. Grab the kids and friends and come out to enjoy a day on the water. Everyone has loved the New 24 ft Tritoon with the shade, changing room and the port-o-potty. We can handle up to 12 anglers.
I want to thank Bass Strike Tackle in Zavalla for their support and for keeping me in baits and line.
