Water Temp.50

Normal pool 164.40

Water Clarity 2 feet

Sam Rayburn has continued to rise this week to 164.43. The water is still stained in the mid lake area.

Sam Rayburn broke out of the ice box only to see some more snow in the middle of the week.  Then we had heavy rain on Friday to cool things back down. As always the sun popped out Sat. and Sun. that warm things back up for the week. The water is muddy in a lot of the creeks from the rain and the bite has slowed way down in these areas. The bite was a little better in the clearer water with some fish that moved up in to the grass in the back of some of the pockets.  Covering a lot of water with Traps and Stanley Spinner Baits is one way of catching a few fish that are active.   Then slow down and work soft plastic like Senkoís and Flukes over the places.  Look for some better fish to move to the points and back in to the drains and ditches in the next few weeks.  These fish are more than ready to go on with the spawn. Carolina and Texas rig lizards around these places could put a trophy in the boat. Itís all so close to busting loose so be ready to get in on the action. Itís been cold and nasty to long.  Itís time to enjoy some much needed time outside on the water to get away from your troubles.

Remember the Sharelunker Program entries started on October 1 and run thru April 30th. If you havenít heard, it encourages anglers who catch a 13 - pound- plus largemouth bass to lend or donate it to the TPWD for spawning purposes. There are some great benefits doing this and one of them is that the angler receives a fiberglass replica of the bass. There is a 24- hour pager at 1-888-784-0600 Check out the Program rules at their site along with the Benefits.

Crappie; There have been a few crappie caught in the grass on the points off the main lake on traps. They are on the move back down the river but it will still be slow for now.

The new pontoon has plenty of room for everyone so get your group booked for a spring crappie trip.

God Bless
